Member Services Payments Specialist

The UrbanSitter Member Services Payments Specialist facilitates the strategy, production, and implementation of all member payment needs, externally and internally. You must be passionate about helping others, excel in payment system strategy, and have experience in finance, accounting, payment platforms, and/or other related areas. The responsibilities of this role are dynamic and will regularly call upon your ability to independently provide clarity, solve problems, prioritize, and be inventive.

In addition to being our Payments Specialist, you will be a core contributor to the Member Services day to day duties. Responsibilities include email support, moderating user-generated content, and escalation handling.

You will be part of a small, hard-working team, so you must be highly motivated and well-rounded. As a member of this team, you will need to be positive, collaborative, and driven to help model and shape the role of customer support within the company.

Location

The position will be remote through the end of 2020 and extended per COVID. The position will then be in-person in one of three offices:

  • San Francisco, CA
  • Portland, OR
  • Denver, CO
Schedule

The Member Services Payments Specialist will be expected to commit to 40 hours per week, 5 days a week with one of those days being Saturday or Sunday.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the organization and production of customer-related payment operations
  • Develop payment frameworks to apply and enforce throughout the Member Services Team
  • Manage fraud prevention and mitigation efforts
  • Offer a payment perspective throughout process development and implementation
  • Influence strategic decisions in representing and advocating for the Member Services voice
  • Test, analyze, and audit payment strategies in providing productive, delightful, friendly, and efficient service to the UrbanSitter community
  • Contribute to Member Services' core responsibilities from an individual and strategic perspective
  • Compose thoughtful and accurate messaging to be prepared as templates to be used by the Member Services Team
  • Work directly with the Product Team and other departments to implement relevant payment needs in accordance with product updates and operational changes
  • Proactively and independently work to meet targets and goals
  • Lead and prioritize payment-related projects for the department, as requested and assigned by your manager
  • Review information to make data-driven decisions
Requirements
  • Experience using Stripe payment platform
  • Passionate about the childcare marketplace and providing an outstanding member experience
  • Patience, empathy, and a unique ability to manage stress
  • Open to change, learns quickly and accordingly in an ever-changing environment
  • Able to work under pressure and adapt to adverse situations
  • Professional writing skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to demonstrate and explain tasks
  • Fluent in English language and syntax
  • Technical aptitude and the ability to pick up new technology quickly
  • Will easily understand the technology and systems in use
  • Familiarity with browser-specific nuances and troubleshooting
  • Some experience supporting or testing a mobile application
  • 1-3 years of experience in payment processes and systems
  • Available to work at least one weekend day
Pluses
  • Experience implementing or managing Stripe processes
  • Active, passionate UrbanSitter user
  • Familiarity with support ticketing systems, especially Zendesk
  • High-level proficiency with Google Suite, Evernote, Slack, and Facebook
  • Experience in the childcare industry

Member Services Associate

The UrbanSitter Member Services Associate is a key member of the Member Services team. Customer support via email is the foundation of this role, thus you must be passionate about helping others and interested in written communication. The responsibilities of this role are dynamic and will regularly call upon your ability to independently solve problems, prioritize, and be inventive.

You will be part of a small, hard-working team, so you must be highly motivated and well-rounded. As a member of this team, you will need to be positive, collaborative, and driven to help shape the role of customer support within the company.

  • Provide productive, delightful, friendly, and efficient service to the UrbanSitter community
  • Be the first point of contact to handle and resolve customer complaints
  • Respond professionally to inbound emails, including urgent situations
  • Identify and escalate issues appropriately
  • Compose thoughtful and accurate messages or customize prepared responses to customer emails and/or chats
  • Research and troubleshoot problems using available resources
  • Arbitrate situations between parents and sitters
  • Moderate user-generated content
  • Monitor and control numerous concurrent tasks
  • Proactively and independently work to meet targets and goals
  • Lead tasks for the department, as requested and assigned by your manager
  • Actively monitor team reports and platform behaviors to identify problematic actors and keep the community safe and trusted and in-line with our terms of service
  • Be an active member of at least one specialized support team (Trust & Safety, Reliability, Payments, etc.) and be able to document processes and procedures for that team as well as train others in your specialty
